The E15TC75HSS, E15TC75HPS and EI15TC65HS all press trash down with the same basic mechanism: a 3/4-horsepower motor turning a drive screw or chain that pushes a ram through roughly 3,000 pounds of compacting force. A ram that won’t move at all usually means the motor, a drive belt or gear, or a safety switch reading the drawer as open; a ram that moves but stalls partway is more often the drive screw itself binding on built-up debris or worn threads.
Because the drawer has to be fully closed and the included key lock switched to run before the ram will move, a compactor that seems dead is checked at those two switches before the motor is condemned — a drawer that isn’t latching flush, or a key switch that has worn internally, can stop the cycle just as completely as a bad motor. The built-in deodorizing system runs on its own separate air path from the ram itself, so odor complaints on a compactor that otherwise runs normally are traced to that filter or vent rather than to the drive mechanism.
