What E4 Means
E4 on newer Electrolux dryers means the humidity sensor failed. Electrolux’s owner guide says the dryer will complete the current cycle and manual cycles can still be used, and to schedule service if the code continues.
Common Causes of E4
- Humidity sensor coated with softener residue
- Sensor or its wiring failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Use timed dry cycles until the sensor is repaired. Clean the sensor bars inside the drum with a little rubbing alcohol, with the dryer unplugged, in case a coating is causing the reading.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor harness is behind the front bulkhead.
- Sensor dry cycles will not work properly until it is fixed.
