What E49 Means
E49 is a door incongruence code: the door line signal and the door sense signal disagree. One circuit says the door is closed and locked while the other says it is not, so the control stops rather than guess.
Common Causes of E49
- Door lock switches wearing unevenly
- Intermittent connection in the lock harness
- Striker loose so the door moves during the cycle
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close the door firmly, unplug the washer for a minute and try a short cycle. If the door is damaged or the striker is loose, that is worth noting, since a door that shifts during tumbling can make the two signals disagree.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Intermittent door signals often only show up with the machine running, which needs a technician to watch them safely.
- Cutting corners on the lock circuit risks the door opening while the drum turns.
