What E73 / E74 Means
E73 is an open inlet control thermistor circuit and E74 a shorted one. The inlet thermistor watches the air entering the drum after the heater. Electrolux gives 47 to 66 kilohms at 68 to 77 F as the correct reading.
Common Causes of E73 / E74
- Inlet thermistor failed open (E73) or shorted (E74)
- Wiring near the heater duct damaged by heat
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Reset the dryer by switching off power for a minute. If the code returns, book service; the inlet thermistor sits on the heater duct behind the drum.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The inlet thermistor is next to the heater, reached from inside the cabinet.
- Guessing between the thermistor and the harness wastes a part.
