What E57 Means
E57 means high current on the inverter, the drive stage of the motor control board. Test 8 starts by asking whether the washer was overloaded, then whether the motor and tub turn freely, then measures the motor windings to decide between motor and board.
Common Causes of E57
- Drum overloaded with heavy items
- Motor partly seized or bearings dragging
- Shorted motor winding
- Inverter stage on the motor control board failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Take out part of the load and run Drain and Spin. Overloading, especially with bedding, is the first thing Electrolux’s chart asks about for this code. If E57 appears with a light load, stop using the washer and book service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Repeated high-current events can damage the motor control board if the mechanical cause is not found first.
- Winding resistance checks need the motor plug removed from behind the machine.
