What E74 Means
E74 means the wash temperature did not increase when the heater was on. The control expected the water to warm up and it did not; Electrolux sends it to the same sensor and heater test as E71.
Common Causes of E74
- Heating element open
- Temperature sensor misreading
- Hot supply turned off so the heater has to do all the work
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that hot water actually reaches the washer: run the nearest hot tap until it is hot, and make sure the hot faucet behind the washer is open. Very cold incoming water in winter can also slow heating.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Testing the element and sensor means access under the tub.
- A heater that is powered but not heating may be damaged from scale or a dry run.
