What EF3 Means
EF3 is the max timeout timer. The dryer ran as long as it allows without reaching dry, and stopped. Electrolux lists exhaust restriction, the exhaust and inlet thermistors, the contact sensor or the control board, and asks for vent restriction and sensor checks.
Common Causes of EF3
- Vent restriction slowing drying
- Wet load from a washer that did not spin
- Contact sensor coated or obstructed
- Thermistor misreading
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the vent path as for EF1, clean the contact sensor bars inside the drum, and make sure the washer is spinning clothes properly; a dripping-wet load can outlast the timer.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Thermistor and sensor resistance checks need the cabinet open.
- An oversized load for the drum should be split rather than rerun.
