The E30EC65ESS uses radiant elements under the glass, each controlled by its own infinite switch. When an element only works on high, or heats on every setting the same way, the switch behind that knob has usually worn out rather than the element.
The hot surface light on an E30EC65ESS is triggered by a limiter in each element. If the light stays on long after the cooktop is cold, that limiter contact has welded, and we test each element to find which one.
