What SY CF Means
SY CF appears across the freezer and fridge temperature windows on Electrolux French-door refrigerators. The service data sheet defines it as a communication failure between the user interface and the main control board at start-up, and Electrolux’s owner article lists it among the codes that require service. Some repair sites describe SY CF as a condenser fan code; Electrolux’s own sheet does not.
Common Causes of SY CF
- Harness between the display and main board damaged, often in the door hinge
- Pin backed out of a connector
- User interface board or main control board failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Note whether SY CF appeared right after a power outage or after the refrigerator was plugged in again, since the sheet ties it to start-up. One reset by unplugging for a minute is reasonable. Keep the doors closed and put a thermometer in each section while you wait for service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The harness runs up through the door hinge and across the top of the cabinet, and the sheet warns to check for pin back-outs and pinched wires before any board is changed.
- Replacing a board without finding a pinched wire leaves SY CF in place.
