What E58 Means
E58 is high current on a motor phase. The drive motor has three windings, and E58 means one of them drew more than it should. Electrolux sends it to the same overload and winding test as E57, with each winding pair expected at 3 to 6 ohms.
Common Causes of E58
- One motor winding shorted or damaged
- Motor wiring chafed against the frame
- Motor control board output stage failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Reduce the load and make sure the drum turns freely by hand with the washer unplugged. If the drum turns easily and E58 still appears on a normal load, book service rather than retrying repeatedly.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A shorted winding can take out a replacement board, so the motor must be measured before any board is fitted.
- Motor wiring runs close to the tub where access is limited.
