What EF5 Means
EF5 means the water temperature is incorrect. Electrolux’s test 16 asks two things: whether the hot and cold hoses are switched, and whether the house hot water is about the same temperature as the cold. Either one produces EF5.
Common Causes of EF5
- Hot and cold fill hoses connected to the wrong faucets
- Water heater off, set very low or far from the laundry
- Hot faucet behind the washer closed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Look at the two hoses on the back of the washer: the one marked hot must go to the hot faucet. Then run the nearest hot tap until it is hot; if it never warms, the water heater is the problem.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If hoses and supply are correct, the inlet valve or temperature sensing is next, which needs the cabinet opened.
- Water heater service is plumbing work.
