What E63 Means
E63 means the heater has a short to earth ground: part of the heating element or its wiring is touching the cabinet electrically. Electrolux’s action is to check the heater coils and connections for shorts to the cabinet and replace the heater or wiring.
Common Causes of E63
- Heater coil sagged and touching the heater housing
- Heater terminal wire chafed through its insulation
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Stop using the dryer and leave it unplugged or its breaker off. Do not open the cabinet; a heater shorting to the frame can make metal parts live.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A short to the cabinet is an electrical shock hazard.
- Heater replacement means removing the rear or front of the dryer and handling 240 V connections.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
