What E66 Means
E66 means a thermal limiter is open. On electric models this is the outlet thermal limiter; on gas models the inlet limiter is checked too. Electrolux’s tech sheet asks the technician to look for evidence of a high-temperature event and any damage before replacing the limiter.
Common Causes of E66
- Dryer overheated because of a blocked vent
- Thermal limiter failed with age
- Wiring to the limiter open
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Do not run the dryer again until it is looked at. Clean the lint filter and check the vent path while it is off. A thermal limiter is a one-time safety part; once it opens, it needs replacing.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A blown limiter means the dryer got hot enough to trip its last safety device.
- Jumpering a limiter removes fire protection.
