What E51 Means
E51 is a motor relay failure. According to the Electrolux tech sheet the relay (RL2 on the board) is stuck open or closed, or the wiring is defective. If the motor runs continuously as soon as power is applied, the relay is shorted; if it will not start when Start is pressed, the circuit is open.
Common Causes of E51
- Motor relay contacts welded shut
- Motor relay open
- Wire at the relay output loose or burned
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Note which way it failed: a dryer that tumbles the moment it is plugged in, or one that never starts. If it runs by itself, unplug it and leave it unplugged. Do not keep trying Start on a dryer that will not turn.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A relay stuck closed can run the drum with the door open or nobody present.
- Relay checks are made across live board terminals.
