What E64 Means
E64 is an open heater circuit: the control switched the heater on and found no complete path. Electrolux’s action is to check the heater coils and connections for an open circuit and replace the heater or wiring.
Common Causes of E64
- Heating element coil burned open
- Loose heater terminal
- One leg of the 240 V supply missing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that both 240 V breakers for an electric dryer are on; a half-tripped double breaker lets the drum turn but gives no heat. Also clean the lint filter and make sure the vent is not blocked, since overheating is what burns coils open.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Heater replacement means handling 240 V connections inside the cabinet.
- An element that burned out from a blocked vent will fail again unless the vent is fixed.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
