What E8 / E9 Means
On the Electrolux Icon built-in all-freezer, E8 or E9 alternating with -10 F signals a temperature sensor problem. The alarm sounds after an hour and the control switches to running at the factory-set temperature so the freezer keeps working.
Common Causes of E8 / E9
- Freezer temperature sensor failed
- Sensor connector loose
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Silence the tone with ALARM OFF and check food with a freezer thermometer; 0 F or colder is the target. Book service to have the sensor replaced.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor is behind interior panels in a built-in column.
- Custom door panels need care when the column is serviced.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
