What H / HI Means
H, HI or High Temp blinking with an alarm tone means a compartment has been too warm. Electrolux’s US articles say the alarm activates when the freezer reaches 26 F or warmer, or the refrigerator 55 F or warmer, and the general guide says HI blinks when the temperature has been too high for over one hour. The usual cause is a door that did not close or seal.

- Door left open or not sealing
- Large load of warm food added
- Power outage
- Cooling problem such as a fan or defrost failure
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that every door and drawer is closed and that the gaskets seal all around. Move items that push against a door. Silence the alarm; Electrolux notes it stays active until temperatures come back to normal. If HI returns with doors shut, check food with a thermometer and book service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If doors are sealed and HI keeps appearing, the fan, defrost or sealed system needs a technician.
- Sealed-system work requires EPA-certified refrigerant handling.
