What E41 Means
E41 means the control board thinks the door switch is open. Electrolux’s owner article says simply that the door is open; the service test starts with whether the door is really closed, then whether the lock can be heard trying to close, then the wiring between the lock and the main board.
Common Causes of E41
- Door not fully closed or clothing caught at the seal
- Door striker bent, cracked or loose
- Door lock switch not closing
- Wiring between the door lock and the main board
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door, check that no garment is caught between the door and the boot, and close it firmly until it clicks. Look at the striker on the door for a crack or a loose screw. If you can hear the lock try to engage when you press Start, mention that when you book; if it is silent, mention that instead.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The lock is held inside the front panel by the boot clamp, and the boot has to be released without tearing it.
- Forcing the lock mechanism can leave the washer able to spin with the door unlatched.
