What E5A Means
E5A is high temperature on the heat sink of the motor control board, caused by overloading according to the Electrolux chart. The board protects itself by stopping the motor when its heat sink gets too hot.
Common Causes of E5A
- Repeated overloaded spins heating the motor control board
- Motor or bearings dragging so the board works harder
- Poor ventilation around the cabinet
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the washer sit unplugged for 30 minutes so the board cools. Then run a smaller load. Make sure the washer is not boxed in so tightly that no air reaches the back, and that the rear is clear of piled laundry.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the load was normal, a dragging motor or bearing is making the board overheat, and that needs to be found.
- The motor control board is near the motor under the tub.
