What EF1 Means
On Electrolux washers EF1 means a clogged drain pump; the chart’s action is simply to unclog it. It differs from E21, which is a general slow pump-out: EF1 is the control recognizing the pump itself is restricted.
Common Causes of EF1
- Coins, buttons or hair ties in the pump filter
- Lint build-up in the pump housing
- Small garment passed through into the pump
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
With the washer unplugged and towels and a shallow pan in place, open the lower front access, drain the water through the small hose if your model has one, then unscrew the pump filter and clean it and the cavity behind it. Turn the impeller gently with a finger to make sure it spins freely.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the impeller is broken or the pump motor has failed, the pump must be replaced from below.
- Pushing tools into the pump cavity can crack the housing.
