What i80 / i81 Means
These codes belong to the auto door opener on models that pop the door open at the end of drying. i80 is a malfunction: the opener left its normal position unexpectedly during a cycle or failed to retract three times, and the program is aborted. i81 is a warning that is not displayed; the cycle continues.
Common Causes of i80 / i81
- Door blocked when the opener pushed
- Door opener mechanism jammed
- Opener sense switch failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Make sure nothing blocks the door from opening a few inches at the end of the cycle, such as a cabinet handle, a towel on the door or a child lock. Restart after clearing it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The opener is inside the top of the tub frame or door.
- Forcing the door against it can break the plunger.
