What E52 Means
E52 means a bad signal from the tachogenerator, the speed sensor built into the drive motor. The service test measures between pins 4 and 5 at the motor plug: 105 to 130 ohms points at the motor control board, anything else at the motor.
Common Causes of E52
- Motor tachogenerator winding open or out of range
- Loose plug or broken wire at the motor
- Motor control board not reading the signal
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Take heavy items out and run a Rinse and Spin with a light load to see if the washer spins at all. If the drum hums without turning or E52 appears as soon as it starts moving, stop and book service. There are no owner-serviceable parts in the drive system.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The motor sits under the tub and its plug is reached from behind or below the cabinet.
- A resistance reading picks between the motor and the motor control board; guessing wastes the cost of the wrong part.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
