What E31 Means
E31 is an electronic pressure switch failure: the main board lost a usable signal from the pressure sensor that reads the water level. The chart’s check is the wiring between that sensor and the main board; if the wiring is sound, the sensor is replaced, and only after that the board.
Common Causes of E31
- Loose or damaged wire between the pressure sensor and the main board
- Pressure sensor failed electrically
- Main board input for the sensor failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There is little an owner can check safely beyond a restart. Unplug the washer for a full minute, plug it back in and start a Rinse and Spin. If E31 returns straight away, leave it unplugged and book service rather than running more cycles with no level reading.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Without a level reading the washer cannot know how much water is in the drum, so it may overfill or refuse to heat.
- The sensor sits under the top panel beside the main board, and tracing its harness means working inside the cabinet.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
