What E44 Means
E44 is a failure of the door-closed sensing circuit. The control reads the door-closed signal separately from the lock signal, and E44 means that reading is not what it should be. The service test for it is the same door test used for E41 and E42.
Common Causes of E44
- Door-closed switch inside the lock not reporting
- Door sagging on its hinge
- Loose connector at the lock or on the main board
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close the door firmly and try again after unplugging the washer for a minute. Check whether the door sags on its hinge so the striker meets the latch low; a sagging door can give inconsistent sensing. If E44 keeps coming back, book service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The door-closed circuit is a safety input; jumpering or bending contacts to silence it removes that protection.
- Checking the circuit means measuring at the main board with the lock connected.
