What E46 Means
E46 is a door command sense code. When the main board sends the lock command, it also watches that the command actually went out; E46 means the board did not see its own lock command on the line.
Common Causes of E46
- Main board lock drive circuit failed
- Short or open in the lock wiring
- Door lock drawing abnormal current
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Restart the washer after a one-minute power-off. Because E46 concerns the lock drive circuit rather than the door position, there is nothing on the door itself for the owner to adjust.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Diagnosing a drive circuit means live measurements at the main board connectors.
- Replacing the board without checking the lock can burn out the new board if the lock is shorted.
