What E55 Means
E55 is the opposite of E54: the motor did not reach the speed it was asked for. Electrolux’s test checks whether the motor pulley and then the tub pulley turn freely by hand, which catches worn tub bearings and anything wedged between drum and tub, before moving to the electrical checks.
Common Causes of E55
- Tub bearings worn and dragging
- Object caught between the drum and the tub
- Drive belt slipping
- Motor or motor control board weak
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the washer, open the door and turn the empty drum by hand. It should turn smoothly and quietly; grinding, rumbling or a tight spot points at bearings or a trapped object. Also make sure the load was not a single waterlogged item such as a bath mat.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Bearing replacement means splitting the tub on most Electrolux front-loaders, a long job.
- Pulling an object from between drum and tub often requires removing the heater or the rear of the tub.
