What E98 / E9F Means
E98 is a console control problem and E9F a communication protocol error. Both belong to the communication tests on the Electrolux chart, where wiring is checked first and boards are replaced only after that.

- Console board failure
- Mismatched boards speaking a different protocol
- Loose communication harness
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the washer for a minute and restart. Check that the control panel is dry and has not been cleaned with a spray that dripped behind the buttons.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Protocol errors often come from a replacement part that does not match; ordering the right one needs the model and revision.
- The console has to be opened to reach the interface board.
